PLEASE NOTE: This rare B movie only portrays characters and events in the most limited, basic and general way. It in no way should act like an full authority on Tesla and the personal events of his time. So much is missing from the man and his story in this film. There are a number of documentaries on Tesla, and many books and websites the seeker should seek out. That being said...this is however a new remaster of the film, with the color contrast saturation corrected and with added subtitles included.

Nikola Tesla (1856-1943) was hailed as a scientific superman, and was perhaps the greatest inventor genius of science and technology the world has ever known. He invented and discovered many things which are now commonplace and concurrent in our modern day and age such as AC (alternating current), radio, television, radar, x-rays, laser technology, solar energy, and wireless communication among many others.

He suffered a similar fate as Mozart's....raised up and praised by the world for his genius only to find himself abandoned with nothing and no one to care for him at the end of his life.

A tragedy for this planet, since many people think that his contributions and innovations to the world have had a greater impact than any other inventor before him, and since.

Let's hope a proper film on the life of Nikola Tesla can finally be made to replace this 1980's one...for future generations to be inspired by.

The only other ancient Greek plays that have been produced for the screen as major motion pictures have been Michael Cacoyannis's Euripidean films of Iphigenia, Elektra and Trojan Women and Manos Katrakis's Antigone...all of which are available on my channel (in complete form).

I am utterly shocked that not one company (not even Kino!) has decided to remaster this Christopher Plummer Oedipus masterpiece for the benefit of the public. It has never made it to official dvd so it is left to people like me who have to hunt down a poor worn out vhs copy (copied from tv for that matter), have it transferred to dvd before uploading it! Perhaps if enough people plea to an independent film archive or dvd company (like Kino for instance) we can have this classic from 1968 as a dvd or even blu-ray!

I hope a revival of the Greek classics can make an appearance in film before our generation is up!
